Adult Swim is diving headfirst into the surreal at this year’s San Diego Comic-Con! Of course, the event will be a sprawling outdoor activation that celebrates fan-favorite hits and highly anticipated originals. Located just outside the convention chaos, this offbeat oasis offers immersive experiences, exclusive merch, and nightly parties only Adult Swim could dream up.
Fans of the viral sensation Smiling Friends can step into a real-life recreation of the show’s now-iconic break room. Equal parts strange and nostalgic, it’s a must-hit photo op, and yes, there’s exclusive merch for those who stop by.
Elsewhere, Rick and Morty devotees can bounce their way through Buttworld. Yes, an inflatable homage to one of the show’s most absurd (and hilarious) dimensions. It’s crass, it’s chaotic, and it’s completely on-brand.
Things get even weirder with the Adopt-a-Cuy Station, inspired by the upcoming series Women Wearing Shoulder Pads. Fans can take home an adorable plush cuy (a.k.a. guinea pig) and channel their inner 1980s power player while doing it.
Also debuting is a scavenger hunt for Common Side Effects, a new animated series coming soon. Participants can hunt for hidden mushrooms around the activation space to earn an exclusive plushie that’s equal parts cute and creepy.
But the party doesn’t end with plushies and photo ops. Each night, the activation transforms into an all-out bash with interactive games, immersive experiences, and DJ sets spinning under the San Diego stars.
Weird, wild, and wonderfully unhinged, Adult Swim’s SDCC experience is the perfect side quest for fans craving something a little more… unexpected.
