Warner Bros. Discovery has confirmed that the Harry Potter TV series has begun filming. HBO began production on the show and released a photo of Dominic McLaughlin in costume. Warner Bros. Studios in Leavesden, United Kingdom hosts the latest extension of this franchise. Rory Wilmot will play Neville Longbottom and Amos Kitson will play Dudley Dursley.

The cast was a big announcement that took place recently. Showrunner Francesca Gardiner and director Mark Mylod put their thoughts to paper when HBO Max’s Harry, Hermione and Ron announcement dropped.

“After an extraordinary search led by casting directors Lucy Bevan and Emily Brockmann, we are delighted to announce we have found our Harry, Hermione, and Ron,” Gardiner and Mylod wrote. “The talent of these three unique actors is wonderful to behold, and we cannot wait for the world to witness their magic together onscreen. We would like to thank all the tens of thousands of children who auditioned. It’s been a real pleasure to discover the plethora of young talent out there.”

Joining this HBO series are: Adriano Goldman (Director of Photography), Cate Hall (Hair and Makeup Designer), Paul Herbert (Stunt Coordinator), Mark Holt (SFX Supervisor), Mara LePere-Schloop (Production Designer), Naomi Moore (Set Decorator), John Nolan (Creature Effects Design Supervisor), Alexis Wajsbrot (VFX Supervisor), Dom Sidoli (VFX Producer), and previously announced Holly Waddington (Costume Designer). 

Here’s how HBO describes the upcoming show: “The series will be a faithful adaptation of the beloved Harry Potter books by author and executive producer J.K. Rowling. Each season will bring Harry Potter to new and existing audiences, streaming exclusively on HBO Max where it’s available, including in upcoming launch markets Germany, Italy and the UK.  The original classic films will remain available to watch around the world.”
