Big news for anime fans out of LA Comic Con. (Especially for those on the sub-over-dub side of things.) This year’s convention will host multiple iconic Japanese voice actors for the first time ever.

Confirmed guests now include Yuriko Yamaguchi (One Piece, Neon Genesis Evangelion, Pokémon), Takeshi Kusao (Dragon Ball Z, Slam Dunk), and Ryota Ozawa, Yui Koike, and Kazuki Shimizu from Kaizoku Sentai Gokaiger.

“We realize the power of the anime community and recognize their demand for a stronger anime presence at LA Comic Con. So we’re pleased to welcome anime legends such as Yuriko Yamaguchi and Takeshi Kusao at this year’s event,” said Chris DeMoulin, CEO/GM of Los Angeles Comic Con parent company Comikaze Entertainment, Inc. “Bringing Japanese Voice Actors together is more than just a huge moment for LA Comic Con fans – it’s a milestone for the entire anime community of Los Angeles. We strive to deliver unforgettable, one-of-a-kind moments across every corner of entertainment, and a lineup like this is exactly what the anime fandom has been asking for.”

Yuriko Yamaguchi lent her voice to over 400 episodes of One Piece; she also voiced Ritsuko Akagi in Neon Genesis Evangelion and other Evangelion media, and Joi in Pokémon. At LA Comic Con, she will appear for panels and autograph sessions September 27 and 28.

Takeshi Kusao will also appear for panels and autograph sessions. He’s known for voicing Trunks and Gotenks in the Dragon Ball Z franchise, as well as Hanamichi Sakuragi in Slam Dunk.
