The Conjuring is the highest-grossing horror franchise in box office history. It cemented that status this past weekend raking in tons of cash at the worldwide box office with The Conjuring: Last Rites. Variety is reporting that Nancy Won is on board to write, executive produce, and be the showrunner for the series. In addition to her, Peter Cameron and Cameron Squires are attached to write on the series.
The show was first announced back in 2023 to go to HBO Max. There aren’t any plot details but we do know that the series will continue the story established in the films. Peter Safran is onboard as an executive producer and James Wan’s Atomic Monster will also produce. Warner Bros. Television is the studio behind it.

The first film The Conjuring premiered in 2013. It was a star-making venture for both Patrick Wilson and Vera Farmiga as the paranormal investigators Ed and Lorraine Warren. Each film focuses on a different paranormal case that they oversaw in their careers. The series has also spawned plenty of spinoffs like The Nun and Annabelle. Collectively, the films have grossed nearly $2.5 billion worldwide.
Nancy Won has recently written shows like Sunny on Apple TV+, Tiny Beautiful Things and Little Fires Everywhere on Hulu, and the Marvel series Jessica Jones on Netflix. She’s also worked on Supernatural and Jericho, so she’s got some seasoning in the horror genre.
Cameron and Squires have plenty of TV experience as well with shows/specials like Werewolf By Night, Agatha All Along, Moon Knight, WandaVision, The Acolyte, and The Boys between the both of them.
