My Dress-Up Darling Ep. 22 “So We’re Gonna Do It All Right Now?!” is an episode of contrasts. On one hand, it’s absolute hilarity as Marin Kitagawa and Wakana Gojo engage in the misunderstandings of misunderstandings, the biggest of the anime so far. On the other hand, the show takes a dip into some truly horrifying stuff as this episodes explores the in-universe horror game Coffin. Seriously, fans of horror will find this episode quite peak.
My Dress-Up Darling Ep. 22 “So We’re Gonna Do It All Right Now?!”: Details in Brief

My Dress-Up Darling Ep. 22 “So We’re Gonna Do It All Right Now?!” is the 10th episode (you can read my review of Ep. 13-14, Ep. 15-16, Ep. 17, and Ep. 18-21 here) of the second season of this romantic comedy and slice of cosplay life anime series, and the 22nd overall. Said anime is the anime adaptation of the 15-volume long manga of the same name by Shinichi Fukuda.
CloverWorks (The Promised Neverland, Horimiya, Spy x Family) will be returning to production this second season, just as they did with the first season. In fact, longtime readers of THS will recall that we did a review of that first season here. Crunchyroll once more is licensing this anime for its global release. Keisuke Shinohara returns as the director, with Yoriko Tomita also returning as the writer.
Synopsis
Alas, My Dress-Up Darling Season 2 is still ongoing as of this writing. In fact, My Dress-Up Darling Ep. 22 “So We’re Gonna Do It All Right Now?!” only just made its debut on Crunchyroll on September 6, 2025. Thus, to avoid spoilers for those of you who haven’t watched the new season yet, here’s the synopsis below:
“Marin has a slight misunderstanding and Wakana has his first playthrough of “Coffin.””
My Dress-Up Darling Ep. 22 “So We’re Gonna Do It All Right Now?!”: The Good

Ok, first of all, the romantic comedy of My Dress-Up Darling Ep. 22 “So We’re Gonna Do It All Right Now?!” is the star of the show. Emphasis on the comedy in this case, because this is one of the most hilarious episodes of the season. Heck, maybe even the whole anime thus far. All because of a teensy-weensy misunderstanding Marin Kitagawa (voiced by Hina Suguta (JP) and AmaLee (EN)) has about what Wakana Gojo (voiced by Shōya Ishige (JP) and Paul Dateh (EN)) bought at a mini-mart. Needless to say, he did not buy a performance enhancer like what Marin thought. Well…it certainly enhances performance, but not in the way Marin imagined it. Indeed, the funniest part of the occasion is the complete lack of action in spite of Marin’s imagination, and in spite of the accidental cues Wakana kept giving.
However, that’s not the only star of the show. The other star is the in-universe video game Coffin. This fictional video game is given some exquisite levels of detail in this episode by CloverWorks and their animation team. All done in the game’s sprite art to boot, and honestly, it’s some of the most beautiful sprite art I’ve seen in any media. It’s also incredibly blood and gore-y, and contains some very, very mature themes. This game, and by extension the parts of the episode that depicts this game, is definitely not for kids. Viewer discretion applies here. However, I will say that the mature aspects of this game lends itself to the horror quite well. Indeed, this episode all by itself would be a fantastic watch for Halloween. Just be sure to bring a trigger warning for blood, gore, and a whole bunch of extremely mature themes implied by the game’s narrative. Trust me, you will need them.
My Dress-Up Darling Ep. 22 “So We’re Gonna Do It All Right Now?!”: The Bad

Honestly, my one and only complaint is that Coffin isn’t an actual video game. Yes, this is a flippant criticism to make, but I do genuinely believe that a defictionalized version of Coffin could be a most wonderful addition to the horror genre of video games. Maybe one of these days, a fan of My Dress-Up Darling might make a defictionalized version of Coffin. Thus allowing us to relive Wakana’s trauma for ourselves in real time. Seriously, Shinichi Fukuda has shown themself to be a masterful writer here, as good with horror as they are with romantic comedy.
Aside from that though, if you’re looking for action, this anime ain’t it. It’s a slice of life romantic comedy anime that for this episode took a dip into some gruesome horror. If you want action-packed stories, then you might want to check out Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba, Kaiju No. 8, DDDD, DAN DA DAN, Sword Art Online Alternative: Gun Gale Online II, Zenshu, Blue Box, Solo Leveling, Black Butler, and/or Nyaight of the Living Cat. If you want some more of the calm and relaxing (mostly) shows, then give Senpai is an Otokonoko, Apocalypse Hotel, Spice and Wolf: Merchant Meets the Wise Wolf, and/or The Ancient Magus’ Bride a try. You might find them just as entertaining as My Dress-Up Darling.
