After amassing a huge following over on YouTube, Helluva Boss‘s move over to streaming has been a long time coming for fans. Creator Vivienne Medrano, who also created Prime Video’s Hazbin Hotel, places us back in Hell, this time following imp Blitzø, who runs an assassin service called I.M.P. (or Immediate Murder Professionals, catchy jingle and all). Rounding out the team are married couple Millie (Vivian Nixon) and Moxxie (Richard Horvitz), as well as Blitzø’s adopted hellhound daughter, Loona (Erica Lindbeck).

Helluva Boss is more than what it appears, though. Sure, first and foremost it is a comedy. But beneath that exterior lies incredibly tender performances and well-written relationships. In fact, one of the driving narrative forces is the transactional relationship between Blitzø and the demon prince Stolas (Bryce Pinkham). Though they entered a relationship so that Blitzø could keep Stolas’s grimoire, which allows him to travel to the human world for I.M.P., their relationship slowly evolves. Seeing how both characters change and grow, and the ways that they do, is not something you see often. Right now, queer stories are more important than ever.

We were able to sit down with star Brandon Rogers to talk about the show finally being uncensored, what to expect from season 3 (hint: tears), and more.
