There’s really no doubt that Sonic the Hedgehog is one of SEGA’s most iconic franchises. After all, the little blue speed demon of a hedgehog has practically been their mascot ever since he made his debut in his first game (with his name right on the title too) all the way back in 1991, and continuing all the way to the present day with the release of Shadow Generations in 2024. However, it’s not just video games these days. There has been a series of live-action films starring the blue hedgehog as well, which has resulted in a highly successful film trilogy (which is set to become a tetralogy with the fourth film in 2027) and TV spinoff. All of which is evidence of Sonic’s popularity, and thus why we’re getting today’s story.

SEGA and JAKKS Pacific are proud to announce a partnership renewal for their core Sonic the Hedgehog Collection. This means JAKKS will continue to design, manufacture, market, and sell Sonic the Hedgehog branded toy product lines worldwide until this renewal ends in 2029. Of course, if JAKKS continues to do a good job, then SEGA will likely renew that agreement, but that’s speculation for now until they confirm it.

We’ll not only get this, but more of it as well.

Honestly, this seems like a good indication that SEGA are very happy with JAKKS’ performance here. If they want JAKKS to make Sonic the Hedgehog toys for them until 2029, then the selection above has made them very happy indeed. Here’s hoping that we get more merch of the blue speed demon of a hedgehog and his friends (and enemies) in the future.
