The MLB is expanding their coverage across platforms and that continues with a new partnership with Netflix for the 2026 season. Beginning in 2026, Netflix will stream multiple live MLB events each year, marking a major expansion into the sport. From 2026 to 2028, Netflix will kick off each MLB season with a singular game on Opening Night, the evening prior to a full slate of traditional Opening Day matchups. Additionally, Netflix will air the T-Mobile Home Run Derby, the most-watched skills competition in sports, going down the day before the MLB All-Star Game, as well as an additional special event game each year, starting with MLB at Field of Dreams in 2026.

Opening Night And More

The New York Yankees, led by seven-time All-Star, three-time American League MVP and Northern California native, Aaron Judge, will venture to the Bay Area to face three-time All-Star Rafael Devers and the San Francisco Giants on Wednesday, March 25, 2026.

Streaming live from Dyersville, Iowa, on Aug. 13, 2026, MLB brings a regular season game to the iconic Field of Dreams movie set for the first time in four years. The 2026 MLB at Field of Dreams game will feature All-Star outfielder Byron Buxton and the Minnesota Twins taking on eight-time All-Star and two-time MVP Bryce Harper and the Philadelphia Phillies.

The T-Mobile Home Run Derby will be held at Citizens Bank Park in Philadelphia on Monday, July 13. The Derby debuted in 1985 as part of MLB’s All-Star festivities and has featured memorable performances from the game’s top sluggers over the last 40 years including three-time champion Ken Griffey Jr. and current stars like 2025 NL home run leader Kyle Schwarber, Giancarlo Stanton, Judge,  Harper, two-time champ Pete Alonso, Juan Soto, Vladimir Guerrero Jr., and reigning champ Cal Raleigh.

MLB Network’s Emmy Award–winning production team will produce Opening Night, the T-Mobile Home Run Derby, and MLB at Field of Dreams in partnership with Netflix’s production team.

Major League Baseball formed a new three-year media rights agreement with Netflix, ESPN, and NBCUniversal. The agreement will extend MLB and ESPN’s long-term relationship to 39 consecutive seasons and marks the return of regular MLB games on the NBC network for the first time in 26 years.

“We are incredibly thankful for our partnership with Major League Baseball. We started with critically acclaimed documentaries, deepening the existing global passion for baseball,” says Netflix Chief Content Officer Bela Bajaria of the deal. “Now, we are seizing that moment by bringing massive cultural spectacles — from Opening Night to the Home Run Derby — directly to our members, reinforcing Netflix as the ultimate home for both the story and the sport.”

“With a ubiquitous presence in the U.S. and an impressive global reach, Netflix is a perfect partner for MLB as the league’s international presence and popularity continues to grow,” said Baseball Commissioner Robert D. Manfred, Jr.  “MLB has a diverse group of exciting international players competing in our biggest events which will create an appealing offering to Netflix subscribers around the world.”
