TRIGUN STARGAZE gives a bit of nice, green calm before the storm for Vash and his friends in Ep. 4 “From Order to Chaos”. All due to them staying in the nice, safe Home with its abundant greenery: the only such place to be found in all of Noman’s Land. However, that safety won’t last. Not if Knives’ lackeys have to say anything about it.
TRIGUN STARGAZE Ep. 4 “From Order to Chaos”: Details in Brief

TRIGUN STARGAZE Ep. 4 “From Order to Chaos” is the fourth episode (you can read my reviews of Ep. 1, Ep. 2, and Ep. 3 here) of the second and final season of this reboot anime, with TRIGUN STAMPEDE serving as the first season. Said reboot anime is the reboot of the 1998 Trigun anime series, which itself was the anime adaptation of the manga of the same name by Yasuhiro Nightow.
Studio Orange (Land of the Lustrous, BEASTARS, Leviathan) returns as the animation studio behind this anime. Interestingly though, Kenji Mutō is not returning as the director, and none of the writers from TRIGUN STAMPEDE are returning either. Instead, Masako Satō will be the director, with Kazuyuki Fudeyasu as the writer. Tatsuya Kato returns as the composer though.
The opening theme song for TRIGUN STARGAZE is “Picaresque Hero” by ano. Meanwhile, “Stardust” by FOMARE is the ending theme song.
Synopsis
Alas, TRIGUN STARGAZE is an ongoing anime series. In fact, Ep. 4 “From Order to Chaos” only just made its debut on January 31, 2026 exclusively on Crunchyroll. Alas, there is currently a blank space on the episode’s page where the official synopsis should be at the time of this writing. Thus, in place of the episode’s synopsis, here’s the synopsis of the anime as a whole below:
“It’s been two and a half years since the Lost JuLai tragedy laid waste to an entire city and engulfed the whole planet in chaos. Meryl continues her search for Vash with her new younger sidekick, Milly, and runs into Wolfwood along the way. Meanwhile, Vash has taken the new name Eriks and is living in hiding in a backwater town. When he receives an abrupt visit and SOS from the third ship they call home, he acts swiftly in order to protect those dear to him. However, as soon as the planet receives good news from the far reaches of outer space, the one-winged angel returns to wreak havoc and despair. Fates collide to forge a final conclusion for the panicked planet.”
TRIGUN STARGAZE Ep. 4 “From Order to Chaos”: The Good

As you might expect from this review’s title, Ep. 4 “From Order to Chaos” is the calming episode. It’s the episode where the main characters consisting of Vash (voiced by Yoshitsugu Matsuoka (JP)), Nicholas (voiced by Yoshimasa Hosoya (JP)), Meryl (voiced by Sakura Ando (JP)), and Milly (voiced by Chika Ayamori (JP)) all get to chill out and relax after a rather horrifying action episode. This is also the chance for the anime to drop a bunch of lore into the story. In particular, the main characters being delightfully surprised at the mere concept of lush plants. It really emphasizes just how barren the rest of Noman’s Land is, and how much they need these plants to live.
And amidst all that are frequent cuts back to Knives’ crew, and what they’re doing. The answer to that is: they’re desperately trying to revive him by sacrificing Plant after Plant in attempts to “graft” that Plant into his remaining organs to heal him. Naturally, the entire process is one that Knives himself would violently oppose, and it’s fascinating that even his crew ponder the idea of him just murdering them all in a fit of rage at finding out what they’re doing to revive him.
It really creates an interesting moral quandary for Knives when he awakens. Can he really believe he’s no better than the humans if his very survival depends on the same evils human commit? The same evils that he condemns the entire human race to death for? Will be hold true to his ideals, or will be become a hypocrite? I suppose we’ll find this out in the upcoming episodes.
TRIGUN STARGAZE Ep. 4 “From Order to Chaos”: The Bad

Alas, because Ep. 4 “From Order to Chaos” is a break from the previous episode, there’s almost no action in it. The most here is a rather horrific sequence of Legato Bluesummers (voiced by Koki Uchiyama (JP)) using his telekinetic powers to stuff an entire platoon of soldiers into a fuel truck, and a scene immediately after that where Midvalley the Hornfreak (voiced by Shin-ichiro Miki (JP)) bloodily decapitates another soldier. While they are quite gruesome scenes, they’re played more for horror than for action. Think more Predator than your typical shonen action story. While it’s certainly quite interesting to watch in a horrific sense, it’s not what you’d go for in terms of action.
The other potential issue is the CGI animation. Orange has some of the best CGI in the anime industry, and it shows in how life-like the characters move compared to other low budget CGI. And yet, if you just don’t like that look, then this anime might not change your mind.
