A Christmas horror movie that came out in Springtime? Normally that would be a recipe for disaster, but this time around with the release of Silent Night, Deadly Night on 4K UHD, it’s a win. The film comes from Cineverse, the same people behind the Terrifier movies, but this isn’t just a rehash of Terrifier 3‘s Christmas scenes. Nor is it a rehash of the original Silent Night, Deadly Night. We had plenty of great things to say about the film in our review of it, but with it out on 4K UHD now, does the physical media release stack up?
The new release has both a Steelbook 4K UHD and a standard 4K UHD. Both have the same on-disc content, so it just depends on whether or not you like the Steelbook art. The special features for the releases include:
- Silent Night, Deadly Night: Unwrapping a New Legacy
- Trailer
While that’s not exactly a pile of extras you would expect for a “Collector’s Edition”, the featurette about “unwrapping” a new legacy with this film was interesting enough. The picture quality this time around is also very nice. This is a vibrant and colorful film at points, and those colors really pop off the screen. in particular, the infamous “party” scene in the middle of the film looks splendid on a big ass 4K screen.
For anyone who enjoyed the film in theaters, this is a great release to buy and enjoy at home. If you missed out on the film in theaters, this is also a great release to watch the film for the first time. I recommend this one for any physical media fans out there and especially fans of horror.

Here’s the official description from Cineverse.
A twisted reimagining of the controversial classic – After witnessing his parents’ brutal murder on Christmas Eve, Billy grows up to deliver an annual spree of holiday violence. This year, his blood-soaked mission collides with love, as a young woman challenges him to confront his darkness. “Have you been naughty?”‘
Here’s what we had to say about the film in our 86% review.
Overall, SIlent Night, Deadly Night ends up doing what a remake should. It doesn’t outright copy the original film, and it doesn’t ruin that either. It takes its own stand, gives itself a new wrinkle, and features some strong performances in a nice holiday horror movie. This is satisfying, bloody, and also features some of the best holiday songs that aren’t all of the traditional ones you hear in movies.
