As of today, we’re just three months out from discovering the truth of Disclosure Day. This new UFO conspiracy thriller is naturally playing its cards close to the vest, but isn’t afraid to tease the audience with cryptic clues for what’s ahead. I can’t think of a better movie to keep forming tin foil hat theories over, especially when my previous Disclosure Day theory has gained a little bit of steam.

The second trailer for Steven Spielberg’s latest has reinforced that point rather well. And thanks to some key details disclosed in this new reel of footage, I’m willing to bet that I know why humanity is about to make a very important first contact.

Colin Firth stares ahead with mysterious blue eyes in Disclosure Day.

Colin Firth’s Disclosure Day Antagonist Confirms The Government’s Motivations

Universal Pictures’ would-be summer blockbuster sees the director behind Close Encounters of the Third Kind and War of the Worlds returning to his old genre stomping grounds. Re-teaming with Jurassic Park scribe David Koepp, Spielberg has the world poised on the eve of, as Josh O’Connor puts it, “full disclosure.”

Those two words strike fear into the hearts of the shadowy organization known as Wardex. Seemingly under the command of Colin Firth, we hear him plead with O’Connor’s character not to go through with his plan – through this case for secrecy:

That truth will upend all established order across the entire world! If you do this, there’s no undoing it.

I don’t know about anyone else, but that line in particular has me thinking about The Day the Earth Stood Still. And it’s because of that sci-fi classic that I think I know where Disclosure Day is heading when it comes to the reason our alien visitors have decided to end what Coleman Domingo calls a “79 year terror campaign.” And to really dig into that, let’s head back to New Mexico for a trip down memory lane…

A clapboard being filmed during the Roswell Incident in Disclosure Day.

Disclosure Day’s Extraterrestrials Are Through With Humanity’s Cover Up

I don’t think the still hidden emissaries from Disclosure Day are coming to Earth in the name of conquest. Nor is this a simple social call, after our species was deemed worthy of conversation through the discovery of Warp Drive technology. Rather I think this unnamed species is staging an intervention, after observing humanity’s current inflection point of history. And it all stems back to the 1947 Roswell Incident!

You don’t have to be an anthropologist to know that the people of Earth are, as the kids would say, “going through it” right about now. If my hypothesis is correct, then Steven Spielberg is exploring yet another new frontier in his UFO obsession. As we saw with Disclosure Day’s first trailer the question has never been “what if aliens exist?” Rather, we should be asking “why are they here?” and “what will that truth do for the world?”

Colman Domingo walks on a film set as he talks on a headset in Disclosure Day.

So maybe what Coleman Domingo is hinting at is the fact that extraterrestrials visited humanity after World War II, another important inflection point – thanks to the atomic bomb – in order to save us from ourselves. Which more than likely led the nations of the world to ask a query Megadeth would rock out to 40 years ago – “Peace sells, but who’s buying?” I think we all know the answer, and I’m now very curious to see how a major blockbuster decides to approach that very subject.

Emily Blunt and the rest of the cast will hopefully answer the first one this summer. Disclosure Day arrives in theaters on June 12th, ready to extend a hand of truth through its veil of secrecy.
