We recently saw the trailer for the HBO/DC Studios series Lanterns with Aaron Pierre, but now we have some news that Pierre is joining up with the Man of Steel in his next film. The actor is joining the cast of Man Of Tomorrow from James Gunn, the sequel to 2025’s Superman. The film should start production this Summer in Atlanta. That film will see the return of David Corenswet’s Superman, Nicholas Hoult as Lex Luthor, and sees those two team up to fight the technological alien threat known as Braniac. Lars Eidinger is playing the villain, one of Superman’s most dangerous and classic foes.

Most of the cast of Superman are returning including Rachel Brosnahan as Lois Lane, Skyler Gisondo, and Sara Sampaio. Other heroes in the film include Hawkgirl (played by Isabel Merced) and The Engineer (played by Maria Gabriella de Faria). Pierre’s John Stewart is the first hero to join the film outside of those previously announced ones. This follows up on James Gunn and Peter Safran’s vision for the DC Universe to have a connected universe between film, TV, comics, and video games.

Stewart is a Green Lantern, part of the Lantern Corps. that patrol the universe as almost space cops. We’ll have to see how his role goes in Lanterns before we see him in Man of Tomorrow though.
