Lilo and Stitch 2 is on the way, and the news is making waves. Today Disney Studios announced that the sequel to last year’s breakout hit will come ashore May 26 2028. Walt Disney Corporation CEO josh Diamaro made the announcement today. Joining Lilo & Stitch 2 will be The Incredibles 3. Both movies are slated for the summer of that year.

Mr. Incredible and his family are looking at a premiere date of June 16 2028. Chris Sanders co-created Lilo & Stitch and is writing the story for the second movie. In addition, we already reported that Elemental director Peter Sohn is taking over The Incredibles franchise from Brad Bird. (The original director is still attached as a producer for the third installment.

If you’ve been paying attention to Disney’s long term trajectory, neither of these decisions surprise you. The Incredibles 3 was announced on-stage during D23 2024. Last year, lilo and Stitch raked in a staggering $416 million at the domestic box office. It was the first billion dollar movie of last year, so a sequel was coming almost immediately.

Alan Bergman, Co-Chairman of Disney Entertainment said of their massive year: “We knew there was a lot of love for ‘Lilo & Stitch’ with audiences around the world, yet we never take that for granted, and we’re proud of how this new film has connected with people. I’m thankful to our filmmakers, our cast, and all on our Studio team who have made this film such a success, and we look forward to more adventures with these characters ahead.”
