The twosome for the Ryan Coogler-developed reboot of The X-Files has found its male co-star in Himesh Patel. He’s set to join Danielle Deadwyler in the Hulu series. The show recently got a greenlight for a pilot from Hulu. Jennifer Yale will serve as showrunner on the series.
For those who are screaming from the rooftops about Mulder and Scully being irreplaceable, don’t worry, the two new stars aren’t replacing Gillian Anderson and David Duchovny, they’re playing new characters in the same world. Sinners filmmaker Coogler is writing and directing the pilot for the new X-Files. In it, two highly decorated but vastly different FBI agents —played by Deadwyler and Patel — form an unlikely bond when they are assigned to a long-shuttered division devoted to cases involving unexplained phenomena.
Jennifer Yale is an executive producer alongside X-Files creator Chris Carter, Ryan Coogler, Sev Ohanian, and Zinzi Coogler. Francine Maisler, who did the casting on Sinners, is working on the series bringing the cast together.
