Batman: Knightfall is perhaps one of the most famous story arcs in the Dark Knight’s long and storied career. Or rather, I should say that it’s one of the most infamous. Not least of which is because this particular arc is the one that has had the most long-term effects on Batman’s life. It’s the arc that makes him realize that no man is an island, which is something a certain Mr. Incredible would learn many years after Batman did. In fact, the Knightfall arc would get referenced in a whole bunch of media, not least of which in Batman’s other stories. However, it has never received a direct adaptation into visual media. That is, until now.
Warner Bros. Animation, DC, and Warner Bros. Home Entertainment are proud to announce DC’s next animated films, all titled Batman: Knightfall, at NYCC 2025. As you can tell by the title, this will be a direct adaptation of that comic book arc into a series of animated films. The first of these films, Batman: Knightfall Part 1: Knightfall, is currently in production and has a release window sometime in 2026. Alas, we have no other info about its release. However, we do have an official synopsis for it, as well as an official promo art. Both of which you can see below:
Synopsis

Batman: Knightfall Part 1: Knightfall to Adapt (In)famous Comic Book Arc at Long Last in 2026

Fans of the Dark Knight, rejoice! For Batman: Knightfall is finally going to get the direct adaptation it deserves! Hopefully. Alas, we have literally no idea what it’s going to be like yet, and that promo art doesn’t really tell us much. The synopsis only tells us what we already know if you’re a fan of the comic book arc. All we can do is hope that DC gives us that info as we get closer to next year.
