The countdown to the premiere of Hazbin Hotel season two has officially begun! Yesterday, fans were fed with the first full trailer for the season, along with the drop of the first song, “Hazbin Guarantee (Trust Us).” This was, of course, on the same day of a nationwide sing-a-long of the first four episodes of season one (and a surprise addition of “Finale,” from “The Show Must Go On”).

New York (and Philadelphia) fans were also given an extra treat in the form of pre-show introductions by cast members. If you didn’t know anything about them prior, all you need to know is that they live for this, and they give back twice the energy they get. It’s so rare to get a cast that loves each other and the show.

Sing-a-longs are not something I generally attend, but I had to make an exception for this show. And boy, am I glad I did. The energy even before the cast members showed up was off the charts. It’s these kind of communities that propel shows, and if anybody was looking for signs that season two will be even more successful than season one, I think last night was a positive indicator of that.

Sharing fan joy is special!

When you have a musical, it just makes sense to give fans these opportunities. With a fandom like Hazbin, it almost feels like something akin to Rocky Horror with the elaborate cosplays and the good-natured booing at fan-hated characters. You laugh, and you don’t care if you’re hitting the notes, because that doesn’t matter.

There is something special about sharing a space for something you love with strangers who love it just as much as you do. You get to experience things people may do or say in their own homes when watching it, and you get to feed off that energy in the crowd. It also shows just how special this thing is, and how much it impacts people. I have been in many small fandoms with manic energy, but the Hazbin fans just may be the best of them all. As mentioned previously, I cannot imagine this fandom doing anything but exploding in growth with the seasons to come.

October 29 feels so very far off, and we can’t wait to see what the second season has to offer. With what we already know about the rise of Vox and the Vees, it’s going to be an action-packed, intense season.

Did you miss out on this opportunity? Never fear! Encore screenings were added to include a few on October 2 in limited states.
