Pets on a Train is an upcoming action comedy animated film film that you might recognize already. Especially if you’re a fan of the Annecy International Animation Film Festival (aka. Annecy). And even more especially if you were there on June 12, 2025; when Falcon Express first made its theatrical debut there. Yes, that’s right. This entire movie is essentially an English dub of a French one, and with a new title slapped onto it.
Fortunately, it doesn’t change the plot of the story, as we can see in the trailer. What trailer, you might ask? Well, the one that Viva Pictures is proud to show off on YouTube to promote the upcoming official NA theatrical release of Pets on a Train. A theatrical release that will come on October 17, 2025 to theaters all across North America. Alas, tickets are not yet on sale at the time of this writing. However, you can watch the trailer and even see the official poster for the film below:
Pets on a Train (aka. Falcon Express) Debuts Official Trailer Just for Upcoming NA Theatrical Debut

In all fairness as someone who grew up in the early 2000’s, Pets on a Train/Falcon Express looks awfully familiar. It’s like someone saw DreamWorks Animation’s Over the Hedge, and thought that it needed more cartoon violence, drama, and explosion. Seriously, it looks like some kind of diehard action film, but with animated animals and for weirdly high yet low stakes? It almost looks as though someone tried to throw way too many tropes together into a film that might not have the room for it? This could be either the most entertaining film of the year with just how insane it is, or it could just be a shameless ripoff of an older film that they hoped people wouldn’t notice. I guess in the end: we will be the judges when this film finally hits NA theaters.
What do you all think? Do you too think Pets on a Train/Falcon Express is a shameless ripoff of Over the Hedge, or does it do its own thing enough to warrant a closer look? Tell us your thoughts in the comments section below.
