What happens in the movie?
Earlier this summer, That Hashtag Show made a trip to see SMURFS in theaters. Our critic, Jamie Jirak, might not have been bowled over by the newest entry in the long-running franchise. She did admit that the young ones in our screening had a blast with the new SMURFS. A lot of parents out there couldn’t ask for more when it comes to a new animated movie in theaters. Here’s how she described Rihanna’s first time on-screen as Smurfette:
“Smurfs (2025) is heading to theaters on July 18th, just in time for Lilo & Stitch (2025) to leave most cinemas. With Superman dominating theaters and The Fantastic Four: First Steps coming at the end of the month, Smurfs is going to be the only good choice for small kids,” Jirak wrote. “Having just attended a screening riddled with children reacting to every joke, it’s safe to say this movie is going to be a hit with the under-10 crowd. Unfortunately, parents will have to sit through it, too.”
