A new Sonic the Hedgehog movie is on the way!

Sonic the Hedgehog 3 was an absolute blast at the theaters a year ago. Maybe part of the excitement around that sequel was the aging millennial audience that has been waiting to see Sonic Adventure Two realized in any way on the big screen. But even a part of that nostalgia, sonic the Hedgehog 3 delivered a crowd pleasing entry and standout performances from Jim Carrey.
That Hashtag Show’s Jeff Ewing reviewed Sonic the Hedgehog 3 for the site. In his analysis, Carrie’s double duty as Dr Robotnik and his grandfather is the key to making this whole film work. Well, that and a fantastic turn as Shadow the Hedgehog from Keanu Reeves.
“Jim Carrey here does double duty as both Ivo and Gerald Robotnik, and it’s really a sight to behold. There’s a familial commonality between the grandson/grandpa duo, but there’s layers of distinctness between the two (in addition to an incredible makeup transformation for the latter),” Ewing wrote. “Carrey excels in finding the comedy in the situation, moving like real-life video game characters at times and boasting some of the film’s best scenes (think dancing through a laser grid). It’s not the first time Carrey’s been excellent in the series (far from it), but it’s perhaps the first time his comedic genius has been fully utilized in the films (or among many of his recent roles, in fact). ”
