Another gorgeous Fall Friday here on What We’re Watching on That Hashtag Show. We’ve got horror movies galore, popular franchises, and plenty more for this weekend. Taylor Swift finally released The Life of A Showgirl in theaters. The Rock is back in his most serious role ever. And, Good Boy is basically designed in a lab to keep us up at night. Let’s hop into the newest releases!

Taylor Swift | The Official Release Party of a Showgirl – In theaters now!

At long last, the Grammy-winning superstar’s latest album is here. (It was a massive night at the THS offices as Peacemaker and the album basically dropped back to back.) Taylor’s latest promises an intimate affair and a bit more mature songwriting chops. If you remember how amazing The Eras Tour felt, go and rekindle the magic in a theater!

The Smashing Machine – In theaters now!

Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson like you’ve never seen him back. The action star is still putting those paws to good use. But, this time he’s embodying MMA legend Mark Kerr in this gripping drama from Benny Safdie. Emily Blunt, almost a prerequisite for a movie with The Rock at this point, does a great job of balancing all that intensity. The Smashing Machine is going to be a big topic among the awards circuit set this year because of the pedigree involved.

Good Boy – In Theaters Now

What’s a weekend at the movies without a little Spooky Season love? Good Boy turns the found footage horror on its head as the family dog can see all the malevolent forces swirling around this family’s home. It’s harrowing, especially if you’re a dog-lover. Go ahead and get your scary watches in while October is here!

Bone Lake – In Theaters Now

More Horror folks! It’s been a season to remember at the theater already and we’ve only seen a couple days of October go by so far! Bone Lake sees Maddie Hasson playing one half of a couple lured into a lakeside vacation. There’s romance, intrigue and more terrifying revelations that come to light. Indie Horror is usually a great time, so give it a look!

Casper – In Theaters Now

Literally, the old version of this film, and it’s going to be amazing to see this on the big screen again. The Amblin classic turns 30 this year. Hard to fathom,  but it’s true. Director Brad Silberling managed to make a comforting kids movie. If you need something spooky for the young one, look no further than the Casper re-release this weekend.

Perfect Blue – In Theaters Now

Satashi Kon’s classic is in theaters, that means you should be catching this one while it’s on the big screen. Mima Kirigoe is an idol that wants to shake things up. This movie has its fingerprints all over all kinds of other releases. Surreal, menacing, and breathtakingly beautiful, there’s nothing quite like Perfect Blue.

Peacemaker – Streaming on HBO Max

John Cena’s Chris Smith is on a neverending story trying to figure out where he belongs. Peacemaker’s been just as wild of a ride this season. Last week’s episode was a comic book movie all-timer. Now, after a shocking revelation about the world he’s run off to, Peacemaker has to make a decision that will stretch far beyond where he normally trods.

Chad Powers – Streaming on Hulu

My goodness, Glen Powell in a charming role as an aspiring sports star? Do we have to say more. Hulu’s crowd-pleaser is more than just a Ted Lasso vibes-matching exercise. There’s some soft heart to Chad Powers. Lots to love about all of this business, and more Glen Powell to enjoy as well. What’s not to like!
