Miss Kobayashi’s Dragon Maid is quite possibly one of the oddest anime series I’ve ever watched. It’s also one of the oddest yuri anime I’ve ever watched too, featuring a female office worker who ends up accidentally wooing a female dragon and gaining a maid in the process, and then getting even more hectic in the process as more dragons start coming into their lives. It sounds like the start of a yuri harem at first glance, but then the show throws you for a twist. One of those dragons happens to be a child named Kanna who ends up basically being the couple’s adopted daughter.
It’s that particular Kanna who’s the star of the show today. Crunchyroll is proud to announce that they have acquired Miss Kobayashi’s Dragon Maid: A lonely dragon wants to be loved for its global premiere. Global save for Asia, where another company presumably acquired the anime film. All based off of the Miss Kobayashi’s Dragon Maid manga by mangaka Coolkyousinnjya, of course.
Alas, we don’t know much about the anime film itself even with this announcement. All we know so far is that Miss Kobayashi’s Dragon Maid: A lonely dragon wants to be loved will be available in Japanese audio with English subtitles, and that the anime film’s story will pick up where season 2 left off. We don’t even have a release window for you yet. We will just have to wait for Crunchyroll to give us that info at a later date. As a longtime fan of Miss Kobayashi’s Dragon Maid myself, I’m looking forward to this with bated breath. I’ve been eager to see what the yuri dragon anime does next, and seeing Kanna be the star of this anime film and its synopsis is already making me anticipate the feels. You can read the synopsis for yourself below:
“Miss Kobayashi, Tohru, Kanna, and Iruru’s peaceful lives are shattered when Kanna’s father, Kamun Kamui, leader of the Chaos Forces, arrives and forces her to return to the Dragon World to fix a past mistake. With a war brewing between Chaos and Harmony, Kanna must find a way to unite the two worlds, but is torn between her loyalty to her friends and her father’s demands. Miss Kobayashi, however, refuses to let her go and tries to mend Kanna and Kamui’s broken bond. As dragons clash, Iruru uncovers a hidden force manipulating the war. Can they stop the war before it consumes both worlds?”
