Crunchyroll is one of the largest anime streaming services in the world right now. Thus, you can expect that they have a multitude of anime series up for streaming. However, it’s not just anime series. Their platform also streams feature-length anime films, although not quite yet in the same numbers as the anime series. Even outside of their streaming platform, they’re also bringing more and more anime films to theaters. All in an effort to make anime more mainstream, and to fill theaters with more anime.
Which gets me to the sbject of this bit of news coming to you from San Diego Comic-Con (SDCC). Crunchyroll is proud to announce their brand new Crunchyroll Anime Nights at SDCC 2025. According to them, this will be a “new monthly theatrical program designed to honor the past, elevate the present, and celebrate the future of anime, all unleashed with an optimal viewing experience on the big screen every third Monday of the month”.
As for when exactly will we get this? Alas, they don’t specify anything more specific beyond October 2025. However, they do confirm that Crunchyroll Anime Nights will feature in more than “225 theaters across participating chains throughout the U.S., including Alamo Drafthouse Cinema, AMC Theatres, Regal, Cinemark Theatres, Harkins Theatres, and Landmark Cinemas”. As for what will we be seeing in these theaters? Well, Crunchyroll are providing a slate of that as well, which you can see below:
