GKIDS has been the distributor for countless anime over the years. From anime series to feature-length anime films, they’ve been the ones responsible for bringing much of anime overseas. At least, here in NA region, they are. It’s almost certainly why we’re getting this bit of news, and straight from Anime NYC to boot.

At their panel at Anime NYC 2025, GKIDS announced the latest news about the anime DAN DA DAN and anime film Perfect Blue. The former is an ongoing anime series (currently on its second season) from Science SARU, and adapted from the manga of the same name by Yukinobu Tatsu. The latter is an original anime film made by the late, great Satoshi Kon back in 1997.

For DAN DA DAN, GKIDS are proud to announce the arrival of Kinta Sakata with a brand new teaser trailer. During the panel, they also reveal that Daichi Fujiwara will be voicing Kinta in the original Japanese audio. Meanwhile, Bryce Papenbrook (Attack on Titan, Demon Slayer) will be voicing Kinta in the English dub. You can watch that new trailer either on YouTube, or just look below:

Well, he certainly seems like quite the character.

As for Perfect Blue, GKIDS are proud to announce that they’re bringing this Satoshi Kon masterpiece to theaters nationwide in the US starting on October 3, 2025. Not only that, but these screenings will even be in a 4K restoration. Thus, you all get to see that 1997 anime film masterpiece in crisp, clear lines.

Perfect Blue 4K still 1
This is especially nightmarish to those who’ve already watched it.

DAN DA DAN and Perfect Blue News at Anime NYC 2025

Fans of DAN DA DAN and/or Perfect Blue, rejoice! Well, kinda. We know that Science SARU hasn’t quite finished with season 2 of DAN DA DAN yet, so this news is entirely expected. Honestly, the real big news here is the latter one, since it’s not every day that we get a 4K restoration of one of Satoshi Kon’s masterpieces. Still, both news are welcome, and shows that GKIDS continues to be one of the best in licensing anime.
