Netflix’s second season of their live-action One Piece is already one of their most highly anticipated upcoming series. Especially after the surprising success of their first season, which made headlines for being one of the few successful live-action adaptations of any anime. It’s thus not much of a surprise when Netflix announced that it was getting a second season, which will premiered on March 10, 2026. The surprise is that they announced a third season before season 2 even started streaming. And now, the surprise gets even more surprising with cast additions.

Netflix is proud to announce that they have added Cole Escola (Oh Mary!, Search Party, At Home with Amy Sedaris) to the cast of their upcoming One Piece Season 3. They will play the part of the very much flamboyant Mr. 2 Bon Clay, who is now just simply Bon Clay in this live-action version.

In addition to that news, Netflix also reveals that production for their live-action One Piece will restart later in 2025 in Cape Town, South Africa. Aside from that though, there’s no word on when we’ll see this third season yet. We’ll just have to wait for Netflix to give us that date later.

Cole Escola Will Be Bon Clay in Netflix’s One Piece Season 3

At last, we’ll get to see how Bon Clay fares on the live-action stage.

Honestly, Bon Clay will be one of the most fascinating characters of Netflix’s One Piece when they finally make their appearance. All because you can interpret them in so many ways, from transgender, to genderfluid, to gender non-conforming, and so on and so forth. Thus, Netflix’s interpretation of their character as non-binary is quite valid, and will be played by an actual non-binary actor to boot. We’ll definitely be looking forward to seeing how Escola plays this theatrical (and quirky) assassin with a surprising code of honor.
