Sekiro: Shadows Die Twice is a most interesting action-adventure video game. Basically: it’s Dark Souls, but set in a medieval fantasy Japan rather than in the medieval fantasy Europe setting that Dark Souls is known for. Heck, FromSoftware is the developer behind both games, which explains the similarities between the two. With critics averaging reviews that score at least 90%, it’s also pretty clear that FromSoftware have a winning game on their hands.

That success is probably why we’re getting this most unexpected of news. At Gamescom 2025 in Cologne, Germany; Crunchyroll announced an anime adaptation of Sekiro: Shadows Die Twice called Sekiro: No Defeat. That announcement also came with a brand new official trailer, which you can watch on YouTube or just look below:

Just from the quality of this trailer alone, I’m looking forward to good things from this Sekiro anime.

That’s not all though. Crunchyroll is also revealing that Sekiro: No Defeat will be a Crunchyroll exclusive, and will be streaming it worldwide save for in Japan, China, Korea, Russia, and Belarus..

Not only that, but they are also not only announcing the production cast for Sekiro: No Defeat, but also a few of the Japanese voice cast too. You can check them out below:

Pleasantly shocked by this, I must add.

To be honest, I was utterly blindsided by this announcement. I think everyone was, really. Crunchyroll and FromSoftware practically ambushed us with this Sekiro: Shadows Die Twice anime news, but I think it’s a most pleasant surprise. Judging by the quality in that trailer, we’re in a real treat. A very bloody treat, to be certain, but the metallic taste will be quite familiar to fans of the game. It’s unfortunate that we don’t have a release window for it yet, but that will come later.
