This Monster Wants To Eat Me muddies the waters of yuri a bit in Ep. 7 “A Kind Person”. All via some very candid declarations from Shiori regarding her relationship with Hinako…or not, depending on how you interpret her words. Meanwhile, a newcomer is threatening to make the waters murkier yet, although we don’t know yet what role Ayame Chiba plays in this tale of supernatural horror yuri.

Synopsis
Alas, This Monster Wants To Eat Me is an ongoing anime. In fact, Ep. 7 “A Kind Person” only made its debut on November 13, 2025 exclusively on Crunchyroll. So for all those who haven’t seen this anime yet, here’s the synopsis for Ep. 7 directly from Crunchyroll below:
“Unsettled by Hinako and Shiori’s growing bond, Miko invites Hinako on a trip to help with the basketball team.”
This Monster Wants To Eat Me Ep. 7 “A Kind Person”: The Good

The drama surrounding the yuri situation between Hinako (voiced by Reina Ueda (JP)), Miko (voiced by Fairouz Ai (JP)), and Shiori (voiced by Yui Ishikawa (JP)) is the most intriguing part of this episode. All because it’s starting to delve into Hinako’s psychology and her own internalized trauma. It’s here where we get to see some of the heavy scarring on her body from her childhood accident, which is why she wears clothing that basically covers her whole body, and where we see how deeply those scars affect her psyche.
And really, it’s not good. Her reactions to people seeing those scars imply a whole lot of post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD) revolving around those scars and how she got them. Her automatic assumption of people finding them to be hideous also implies a critical failure of whatever therapist she had assigned to her. Which to be fair, is pretty indicative of how psychiatry is seen in Asian countries in general. For context: Asian countries tend to have a stigma against mental disorders, which bleeds over into a stigma of being treated by a psychiatrist. It’s quite interesting that this episode is essentially an indirect criticism of that stigma, even if it’s not the main focus of the story.
The main focus, of course, being how Miko and Shiori treat Hinako, and why they’re so surprisingly similar to each other. See, Miko treats Hinako according to what she thinks is best for Hinako. Meanwhile, Shiori treats Hinako according to what she believes Hinako wants her to treat her as. It’s a subtle difference between the two views, but they both essentially do that out of love for Hinako. How that love plays out is what we’ll have to see in the future, especially in the wake of Shiori seemingly inflicting an emotional blow to Hinako in the closing minutes of this episode.
This Monster Wants To Eat Me Ep. 7 “A Kind Person”: The Bad

Alas, This Monster Wants To Eat Me is very fond of cliffhangers in the middle of some intense drama. Ep. 7 “A Kind Person” is no exception, with the mystery around Ayame Chiba only deepening by the end of this episode. This means a rather painful wait to see how this story concludes, which while successful in convincing audiences to watch the next episode, is also not particular pleasant to experience.
