Superman is “Verified Hot” by Rotten Tomatoes and the new DC Universe is off to a flying start. The review aggregator has updated this morning. James Gunn’s Superman sits at a golden 96% on the Popcornmeter. The professional critics have the comic book movie at 85% as well. That’s good enough to be considered “Certified Fresh” by their standards. It isn’t just a few fans either. Over 500 people have logged Superman as a crowd-pleasing action movie.
This Friday, fans from all over can pile into the theater to “look up” at the new Superman. James Gunn’s first outing as the head of DC Studios is winning a ton of people over. Fandango helped some fans get some special screenings ahead of July 11. It seems like a lot of those folks are jazzed to be a part of all of this. Check out the trailer for yourself right here!

If you’re looking for why so many people end up gravitating towards this take on The Man of Steel, the leading man is a good place too start. David Corenswet’s Superman is a ray of sunshine on-screen. A lot of the initial reactions praised his performance. Our friend Brandon Davis over at Phase Hero spoke to the Superman actor about what makes his version of the hero really pop.
“And in movies, a lot of the time, you cut over, you cut out that stuff, you cut out the boring stuff, and you just skip to the exciting bits. And in real life, you know that they’re they’re these, these this, this commitment and this stamina that, that, that actually saves the day,” Corenswet explained. So, it was fun to get to play with that in the movie of just Superman has to keep putting on his boots and going to work and you don’t just cut to the most exciting save. You also see that he’s got to get the squirrel out of the tree so the squirrel doesn’t get smushed.”
