Get ready for a double dose of Batman for DC movie fans. We’ve got The Batman Part II coming up and now The Brave and the Bold coming from DC Studios. They’ve tapped writer Christina Hodson to write the movie. The project is centered around Batman and Robin. This version sees Damian Wayne as Robin, the murderous tween raised by assassins who happens to be the son Batman never knew he had.
There’s no word on how far along the writing process is for Hodson and DC Studios. The Hollywood Reporter is reporting that she’s been working on the project since at least the fall. They’re also saying that it would be some time before a definitive draft comes in, as the studio is taking their time to get the project right.
The Brave and the Bold has been through some changes since James Gunn and Peter Safran took over DC Studios in 2023. Andy Muschietti was on board as director, but finding a writer was the tricky part. He remains on board as director, but his schedule could get busy with the success of IT: Welcome to Derry.
There’s also the issue of having two different Batman movies in development at the same time. Matt Reeves’ The Batman Part II is getting ample space to breathe and they want to make sure that both films stand out from one another.
Hodson has several DC credits to her name, including The Flash, Birds of Prey, and an unmade Batman Beyond script that got rave reviews from the studio. She also wrote the Transformers film Bumblebee.
