The world is aflame with Zach Cregger fever right now. His movie Weapons has taken the world by storm and it doesn’t look like its letting go. But, the news today is about another project that Cregger has been working on, one that came even before his breakout with Barbarian in 2022. According to THR, Cregger has been sitting on a script for a DC film called Henchmen. According to them:
“Henchmen would center on a low-level henchman in the Gotham crime world who gains notoriety after managing to incapacitate Batman through a stroke of luck.
The Dark Knight could appear briefly in the movie, while Harley Quinn and Joker are in the project as well. Cregger has not yet pitched it to DC Studios, though the company is said to be aware of his interest.
But even with Cregger being one of the most in-demand filmmakers in town, like any IP swing, Henchmen faces several hurdles.”
DC Studios hasn’t come out and cast any of these characters yet. The only Batman and Joker we have right now are Robert Pattinson and Barry Keoghan in Matt Reeves’ film (and the sequel, which should have a script soon). That being said, there also was another interesting nugget in this report about Margot Robbie and her time as Harley Quinn.
“(Harley Quinn, theoretically but probably not, could still be played by James Gunn’s The Suicide Squad star Margot Robbie.)”
That doesn’t close the door on a reunion for the most popular portrayal of the character since her original appearance in Batman: The Animated Series.
What Are DC Studios’ Current Plans?

We just saw the beginning of DC Studios’ content plan with Superman. That film roared to number one at the box office and has pulled in tons of money so far. We’ve got films like Supergirl, Batman: The Brave and the Bold, an untitled Wonder Woman film, and more coming from the studio after they unveiled their plan with James Gunn and Peter Safran. This new Henchmen movie looks like if it does get made, it would be a side story to this whole thing. A filmmaker like Cregger will likely have his pick of projects going forward, so we’ll have to see.
