I Know What You Did Last Summer has a mid-credits scene you don’t want to miss!

I Know What You Did Last Summer is the latest legacy sequel, AKA requel, to bring back characters from a beloved horror franchise. The new movie was written and directed by Jennifer Kaytin Robinson and stars Jennifer Love Hewitt as Julie James and Freddie Prinze Jr. as Ray Bronson. They’re two-time survivors of the Southport Fisherman, a killer with a hook. He went after the couple back in 1997 when they hit him with their car and left him for dead. While their friends didn’t survive his revenge, they lived to face the Fisherman again in I Still Know What You Did Last Summer. Now, they must help a new group of young people whose reckless actions have inspired another Fisherman killer.

Over the last decade, it has become increasingly popular for films to have mid-credits and/or post-credit scenes. This is especially true for legacy films. So, do you need to stick around for the credits during I Know What You Did Last Summer?

The answer is an emphatic YES. The movie has a mid-credits scene that features one of the best surprises of the film. You won’t want to miss this moment. And once it’s done, you’re free to leave. There’s nothing after the credits. However, we always recommend sticking around to honor the people who worked hard on the film.

What Happens in I Know What You Did Last Summer‘s Mid-Credits Scene?

Warning: Major I Know What You Did Last Summer (2025) spoilers ahead! The mid-credits scene for the movie sees the return of Brandy Norwood, who played Karla Wilson in I Still Know What You Did Last Summer. While the 1998 film isn’t exactly good, fans love Brandy, and were hoping she’d appear in the requel. Especially since Karla survived the second movie.

In the scene, Karla is watching the news with (we assume) her husband. The news tells of the most recent murders in Southport. Karla sees her old college roommate, Julie, on TV and expresses her concern. Poor Julie just can’t seem to catch a break! That’s when she hears a knock on her door and is visited by Julie.

It’s been a long time since the duo has seen each other, and Julie apologizes for roping her back into the mess. Julie reveals she received another note with Karla’s face Xed out, proclaiming “it’s not over.”

It’s currently unclear if the new I Know What You Did Last Summer will be getting a sequel, but they certainly set one up we’d like to see.

I Know What You Did Last Summer opens July 18th. In addition to Hewitt and Prinze Jr., the film stars Chase Sui Wonders, Madelyn Cline, Jonah Hauer-King, Tyriq Withers, and Sarah Pidgeon.
