The core actresses for the Scary Movie franchise, Regina Hall and Anna Faris are both making their return to the series for Scary Movie 6. Deadline was the first with the news.
Here’s what Hall and Faris had to say in a statement:
“We can’t wait to bring Brenda and Cindy back to life and be reunited with our great friends Keenen, Shawn and Marlon—three men we’d literally die for (in Brenda’s case, again.)”
The latest movie in the Scary Movie franchise brings back the Wayans Brothers for the first time in 18 years to write an all new, original script for the series. They’re co-writing the screenplay with Rick Alvarez. The movie should start production this October and releases in theaters on June 12, 2026.
We’re at a strange time for horror movies right now where we haven’t had something completely lampoon them in quite a long time. The closest we got was Scream 2022, but even that kept close to the series’ chest. The sixth installment will be directed by Michael Tiddes. Tiddes is a long-time Wayans collaborator, starting as an assistant on White Chicks. He directed a trio of Wayans films – the satirical horror comedy A Haunted House and the Netflix hit movies Naked and Sextuplets.
What Is Scary Movie?

The first five movies in the Scary Movie series are some of the highest grossing R-rated horror comedies ever. The original set the box office record for an R-rated horror movie at $42,5 million. The first was released in 2000 and from there, they went on to skewer horror movies like Scream, The Ring, and more.
Regina Hall has been busy since her time in Scary Movie, she’s got the Paul Thomas Anderson movie One Battle After Another coming soon. She’s also starring in Judgement Day with Will Ferrell and Zac Efron. Anna Faris went on to star in films like The House Bunny and Smiley Face. She’s got Spa Weekend coming up in addition to Scary Movie 6. She’s been a prolific actress in film and TV.
