“It: Welcome to Derry” on HBO, has captivated fans of Stephen Kings’ novel as it continues to build on the lore of Pennywise the Dancing Clown or “It”. This franchise adapted from the book has now traversed through two films and now a series. At the helm has been Andy Muschietti, but it has also held another position consistent, its composer.

A CHAT WITH COMPOSER BENJAMIN WALLFISCH

With the release of “It: Welcome to Derry”, I spoke with composer Benjamin Wallfisch. He has not only provided the music for the series but both films as well. During our chat we talk about developing the sound of the franchise we talk about his blend of orchestral textures with familiar child melodies that come together to make haunting compositions for the franchise. He shares with us how he has had to adapt the sound to the specific time that we find ourselves in Derry and how that could change in future seasons. It was a great conversation that you can check out below!
