The ladies of Lilo & Stitch joined THS at San Diego Comic Con! We sat down with Maia Kealoha (Lilo), Sydney Agudong (Nani), and Tia Carrere (Mrs. Kekoa, and the original voice of Nani) to dive into the sisterhood behind the film, their enthusiasm for Disney, and how they approached making a new version of a beloved feature.
Carrere told us that before she even knew she’d be joining the live-action film as a new character, she was speaking with Agudong about taking on the role of Nani.
“She’s asking for directions on the character, and I’m like, ‘Girl, you have everything. You are fierce. You are powerful. Just trust in yourself, the way I had to learn to trust in myself’,” Carrere said.

About Lilo & Stitch
Lilo & Stitch (2025) is Disney’s live-action reimagining of the 2002 animated feature of the same name. It follows Stitch, a runaway alien who comes to Earth after escaping galactic prison. There he impersonates a dog to get adopted by Lilo, a lonely Hawaiian girl. Together, they help Stitch evade capture by the aliens hunting him down, and the pair form a bond that helps Lilo feel like she’s mending her broken family.
The film stars Maia Kealoha, Sydney Elizebeth Agudong, Billy Magnussen, Tia Carrere, Hannah Waddingham, and Chris Sanders, with Courtney B. Vance and Zach Galifianakis. Dean Fleischer Camp (Marcel the Shell with Shoes On) directs.
The feature recently became the first film of 2025 to cross a billion dollars at the box office.
Lilo & Stitch is available to rent and purchase on VOD platforms now. It will release on 4K and Blu-ray later this month on August 26.
