Nyaight of the Living Cat is a Japanese manga series that was adapted into an anime this year. The hilarious new TV series is currently available to stream on Crunchyroll in both Japanese and English. In honor of the show’s release, That Hashtag Show got the chance to chat with some of the English dub voice actors. We sat down with Jason Douglas (Kunagi), Lew Temple (Tanishi), and Maria Delilah (Kaoru) at a very special location. The interviews took place at CatCafe Lounge in Los Angeles, “an enriching space for adoptable rescue cats.”
What is Nyaight of the Living Cat about?
You can read the official description of the series here: “Run! The adorable cats are here. In 20XX, the world is dominated by cats. A virus which turns anyone who touches a cat into a cat has spread into a worldwide nyandemic. Cats rub against people, turning them into cats. Can humanity fight their urge to pet cats to survive in this cat-ridden world?”
The show is a ton of fun, and made us wonder… Why fight? Is it not just worth turning into a cat? In fact, we asked the cast that very question during our interview. While Delilah would absolutely turn cat, Douglas and Temple had pretty good reasons for wanting to stay human.
“Well, can you enjoy a cat and be a cat at the same time?” Douglas wondered. Fair point!
