Whistle, a new horror flick, heads our way next year. And THS got an early behind-the-scenes look at the feature during San Diego Comic Con. We sat down with stars Dafne Keen (Logan) and Sophie Nélisse (Yellowjackets) to learn more about what this movie has in store for audiences.

“I think when we find Chris, she’s in a very dark place in her life,” Keen said of her character. “She’s just lost her father, and she’s a recovering addict. She’s moved to this little town to try to start anew. And she finds love amidst the context of the horror that is ‘Whistle.’ But it’s a very special romantic love story at heart, to me.”

“I think they bring out the best in each other,” Nélisse added. “Ellie’s just so set on her future, and meeting Chris really pushes her out of her comfort zone.”

While Keen and Nélisse agree on the importance of Chris and Ellie’s relationship to the film, they feel a little differently about the blood-and-guts aspect of the horror.

“I love it!” Keen enthused. “Do you not love it?”

“I don’t know that I love it…” Nélisse demurred.

About Whistle

A misfit group of unwitting high school students stumble upon a cursed object, an ancient Aztec Death Whistle. They discover that blowing the whistle and the terrifying sound it emits will summon their future deaths to hunt them down. As the body count rises, the friends investigate the origins of the deadly artifact in a desperate effort to stop the horrifying chain of events that they have set in motion.

Whistle stars Dafne Keen, Sophie Nélisse, Sky Yang, Jhaleil Swaby, Ali Skovbye, Percy Hynes White, Michelle Fairley, and Nick Frost. The film comes from writer Owen Egerton and director Corin Hardy.

Whistle premieres in theaters in 2026. Check back to THS for more updates on the premiere, and for more news out of SDCC.
