Friends, it’s going to be a while until the next 007 movie. As Bond 26’s recent casting update saw the wheels turning for the projected 2028 release window, there’s clearly no rush to get your tuxedo pressed for the royal premiere. It’s a reality that makes the fact that IO Interactive’s 007 First Light is slated to debut early 2026 all the more exciting – which is about to see another boost of enthusiasm from its casting of a Marvel Cinematic Universe vet!

Only a handful of people can claim that they’ve played multiple characters in the MCU multiverse, and Ms. Gemma Chan is certainly one of them. She can now technically cross the James Bond franchise off her bucket list, thanks to this Tokyo Game Show 2025 video announcing her First Light character:

Described as “a brilliant and passionate academic with a background in psychology and game theory whose role at MI6 is critical in Bond’s journey to earning the 00 status,” Dr. Selina Tan is one of Q-Branch’s finest. She’s also the Head of Tactical Simulations at MI6, so when she asks for questions, you can tell she already has the answers.

If I were to guess how the Crazy Rich Asians star would play into this new game’s story, I’d say that she’ll be crucial to the tutorial levels that get players acclimated to the game. Not to mention she’ll more than likely tangle with the wit of not only the young Bond, but also her boss – the iconic Q (Alastair Mackenzie).

Joining a cast that also boasts notables like Lennie James, Priyanga Burford, and Patrick Gibson – among others – Ms. Chan’s entry into the line-up for 007 First Light continues to diversify the roster rather beautifully. For such a short clip, you can not only get a proper feel for Dr. Tan’s overall role in this incarnation of MI6, but it’s also easy to root for her to actually get those questions she so politely asked for.

You’ll be able to ask Gemma Chan questions, while fighting to save the world, in 007 First Light. The title is currently available for pre-order on PlayStation5, Xbox Series X|S, Nintendo Switch 2, and PC – in anticipation of its March 27, 2026 release date. Meanwhile, you can catch up with all things Bond, James Bond, thanks to THS’s 007 Archives
