Can you really say your legendary IP is still relevant without a series of LEGO video games adapting it? Sure you can; but seeing how worlds like Star Wars, Indiana Jones, and Jurassic World are brought to life through that iconic block-based play system never gets old. That statement still applies to the Caped Crusader, as you can see in a trailer for LEGO Batman: Legacy of the Dark Knight that reenacts a classic Jack Nicholson Joker moment- complete with Prince’s “Partyman!”

In honor of Warner Bros. Games and DC’s latest collaboration in the LEGO Batman franchise, the clip you saw above reimagined the Joker’s assault on the Flugelheim Museum in LEGO form. Set to light up the Bat-Signal for fans all over on May 29th, Legacy of the Dark Knight actually spans across the ages as it, “combines DC lore and signature LEGO humor in the ultimate LEGO Batman experience.”

It’s hard to argue with that claim, though I think turning this cinematic into an actual playable sequence couldn’t hurt those chances. Seriously, watch this clip, and tell me you wouldn’t want to run around as Jack Nicholson’s Joker for a musical number?

Gamers will just have to settle for the goodies they’re set to reap if they preorder the Deluxe Edition pre-orders. If those extras are any indication, then this dedication to the entire Batman mythos is to be commended even further.

LEGO Batman: Legacy of the Dark Knight Dug Pretty Deep For Its Caped Cavalcade

If you’ve already pre-ordered LEGO Batman: Legacy of the Dark Knight, you get two pretty chill extras. Early access to the game will be unlocked for early adopters on May 26th, along with a playable skin modeled after The Dark Knight Returns Batsuit (which is celebrating its 40th anniversary!) Don’t worry if you decide not to pre-order this title, because if you already have (or sign up for) a Warner Bros. Games account, you can land the Golden Age Batsuit – plucked from Batman’s very first 1939 appearance.

LEGO Batman: Legacy of the Dark Knight has quite the impressive laundry list that tip its cowl to Bob Kane and Bill Finger’s mythic vigilante. With what we’ve seen above, you kind of have to wonder what other laughs waits in the shadows of this comedic collection of crime fighting?

If you now have a desire to fight crime on your Bat Gaming System of your choice, LEGO Batman: Legacy of the Dark Knight can currently be pre-ordered for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC! (Sorry Nintendo Switch 2 players; that port is currently slated to be “announced at a later date.” But when that news lands, you can catch it at the same Bat Time on the Bat Channel known as THS’ Gaming archives!
