Star Trek is kicking off its sixtieth anniversary with a splashy celebration at one of America’s most beloved traditions. The franchise announced that George Takei, Rebecca Romijn, Tig Notaro, and rising newcomer Karim Diané will appear on a towering custom float during the 2026 Rose Parade in Pasadena on January 1. It is the first major event in what will be a year of franchise-wide festivities.

A Float Made for the Final Frontier
The Star Trek 60 float carries the fitting title “Space for Everybody.” It pays tribute to six decades of bold storytelling that pushed culture forward. Artist John Ramirez designed the float and Artistic Entertainment Services brought it to life through ornate floral work. The showcase begins with the U.S.S. Enterprise rising above a collection of iconic Star Trek planets. The back of the float features Vasquez Rocks, the famed Los Angeles location that shaped the look of multiple Trek episodes and films. Interactive transporter pads drive home the spectacle.

The float also highlights the upcoming Paramount Plus series Star Trek: Starfleet Academy. The Academy campus towers near the center of the design and signals the franchise’s next evolution. The Star Trek 60 logo sits prominently along the sides while the command bridge of the Enterprise anchors the front. This is where Takei, Romijn, Notaro, and Diané will greet fans as the parade winds through Pasadena.
Celebrating Sixty Years of Exploration
The franchise is leaning into its anniversary with a message of inclusivity and optimism. “Space for Everybody” sums up the ethos that Gene Roddenberry baked into the series from the start. Star Trek has always championed cultural diversity, scientific discovery, and the pursuit of unknown frontiers. With more than nine hundred fifty episodes, fourteen films, and a global footprint spanning more than one hundred ninety countries, the saga still shapes pop culture.
The parade appearance marks only the beginning. Starfleet Academy joins Strange New Worlds, Discovery, Picard, Lower Decks on Paramount+ and Prodigy on Netflix as the franchise continues to expand across genres and platforms. Executive producer Alex Kurtzman remains the steward of this ever-growing universe.
America’s New Year Celebration
The Pasadena Tournament of Roses hosts the Rose Parade every January 1st. More than nine hundred volunteers make the event possible, and the 2026 parade carries the theme “The Magic in Teamwork.” Star Trek’s float aligns neatly with that idea. Artistic Entertainment Services, a longtime partner of the parade, once again delivers one of the most elaborate constructions of the season. Their work consistently results in fan-favourite, award-winning floats that turn engineering into art.
With beloved cast members aboard, a massive floral starship sailing down Colorado Boulevard will be one of the parade’s biggest highlights. It is a fitting kickoff to a year celebrating a franchise that continues to inspire viewers to look upward and push forward.
