The Tomb Raider series for Prime Video is heating up in the casting department lately. FIrst, we got confirmation that Sophie Turner would play Lara Croft, then we got news that Sigourney Weaver was joining the series, now, according to Deadline, Jason Isaacs has signed on as well.

It’s unclear who Isaacs is playing at this moment. The series is based on the video game franchise that lit the world on fire during the 1990s. The first game, Tomb Raider, created a cultural icon in Lara Croft, who has been a staple of video games since her debut. The plot for the TV series is being kept under wraps for now.

Sophie Turner is set to star as Lara Croft with Phoebe Waller-Bridge on board as writer and executive producer. At this time, it’s unknown what role Sigourney Weaver would play.

Chris Hodge is also on board as an executive producer and co-showrunner alongside Waller-Bridge and Jonathan Van Tulleken, who is directing as well. The series has a start of production on January 19th, 2026.

The series, from Story Kitchen, Crystal Dynamics and Amazon MGM, is also executive produced by Crystal Dynamics; Waller-Bridge and Jenny Robins through Wells Street Productions; Dmitri M. Johnson, Mike Goldberg and Timothy I. Stevenson through Story Kitchen; Michael Scheel; Hodge; and Legendary Television.

Jason Isaacs is known for his role in the Harry Potter series as Lucius Malfoy, and he’s recently earned acclaim for his role in The While Lotus. He has plenty of projects coming up like Eleven Days, Victorian Psycho, and The Julia Set.
