Another week is here on That Hashtag Show, and that means it’s time to give you guys what we’re watching. Predator: Badlands is the headliner for this week with some other strong contenders for your free time. Wicked: One Wonderful Night is also a strong entry for this week. Frankenstein comes home on Netflix, and so much more! Let’s dive into what there is to watch this weekend:
Predator: Badlands – In theaters now!

Dan Trachtenberg returns to the Predator franchise after a delightful first theatrical entry with Prey. His work in Predator: Badlands continues the hot streak. Expect a tale that humanizes the memorable movie villain. One of these storied warriors has to work together with another entity to hunt a common enemy. At this point, hand all future Predator outings to this director.

Die My Love – In theaters now!
Jennifer Lawrence and Robert Pattinson complete this doomed tango in a boiling drama from director Lyne Ramsay. They say love and hate are two sides of the same coin. But, for Lawrence’s Grace, that saying hits a bit too close to home. Her partner Jackson (Pattinson) has moved them into the countryside, and the solitude is not doing them well. Very haunting adaptation of Ariana Harwicz’s novel! Sissy Spacek, LaKeith Stanfield, and Nick Nolte also star in this one.

Christy – In theaters now!

Sydney Sweeny steps into the shoes of Christy Martin. This West Virginian is a boxer trying to escape humble beginnings. Ben Foster plays James Martin, her manager. It’s a fraught relationship as he’s also her husband? Christy is a bit of a gloat in the ring, but all that bravado doesn’t help in her life outside of the squared circle. (Hooray for Katy O’Brian in this one!) David Michod takes us inside the psyche of a true competitor.

Frankenstein – Streaming on Netflix
Guillermo Del Toro brings a beautifully-realized version of Mary Shelley’s monster tale to Netflix. Oscar Isaac, Jacob Elordi and more sizzle in this atmospheric take on a literary classic. It’s almost a shame you’re probably going to see this at home instead of in a theater. The colors, set design, and sound design are all top-notch. A true feast for the eyes with Frankenstein right here.

Tyler Perry’s Finding Joy – Streaming on Prime Video
Finding Joy gets us right into the Holiday spirit with a romatic comedy weaved from the sweater yarn of other beloved films. Tyler Perry directs this one and it’s sweet to be sure. But, the sentimentality never overstays its welcome. People seem to really be enjoying it too. Finding Joy is currently #1 on Prime Video, so give it a watch!
All’s Fair – Streaming on Hulu

OK, so why include all’s fair on “what we’re watching this weekend?” Well, All’s Fair has to be seen to be believed. Kim Kardashian stars alongside Naomi Watts, Neicy Nash, Glenn Close, Teonna Taylor, Sarah Paulson and more in this legal drama that’s too stylish for its own good. A lot has been made about that Rotten Tomatoes score, and while we don’t disagree, we need more people to discuss what we just saw. “Beautiful Gowns: The Show”
Wicked: One Wonderful Night – Streaming on NBC + Peacock
You’ve probably already seen a bunch of clips from Wicked: One Wonderful Night all over your social media feeds. But, you owe it to yourself to go watch the entire show this weekend. Ariana Grande, Cynthia Erivo, and more spectacle than you can shake a stick at. NBC is probably going to give a lot of other projects the big TV adaptation treatment after they get the ratings back on this thing. Highly recommend taking the time.
