Wicked: For Good – In theaters this weekend

Popular, you’re going to be popular! Sorry, we can’t resist. It’s the moment everyone’s been waiting for since the moment that Wicked crushed the box office last year. Director Jon Chu is back with the second part of the story that captivated the world in 2024. Cynthia Erivo and Ariana Grande soar with songs new and old and what might be the movie event of the fall. Let’s face it, it’s nice to be back in the Emerald City.
Sisu: Road to Revenge – In theaters this weekend
On the complete other end of the spectrum, we have Sisu: Road to Revenge. This nonstop action thrill ride has some serious teeth. And, a message to go along with all of that venom. Director Jalmari Helander takes folks on quite a journey with Jorma Tommila and Stephen Lang. If you love to see things explode and bullets fly, you’ve come to the right place. Screen Gems quickly greenlighted this sequel and it’s easy to see why.
Rental Family – In theaters this weekend
Brendan Fraser, you will always be famous. Hot off the heels of that sequel announcement for The Mummy. One of our favorite actors is back with an endearing story of belonging and family. Basically, Fraser is a “rent-a-dad” for a Japanese family who needs him. This one was a winner for a lot of folks, and if it’s playing near you, definitely worth a ticket.

The Family Plan 2 – Streaming on Apple TV
Apple TV brings back Mark Wahlberg and the Morgan family for more Holiday fun. Michelle Monaghan joins the action star on a jaunt through Europe this time around. Like some of the best Holiday movies of yesteryear, nothing really goes according to plan. As an added bit of intrigue, there’s an assassin hot on their trail? This one is punching above its weight class for me.
Playdate – Streaming on Prime Video
We all admit we never saw Kevin James and Alan Ritchson teaming up together as a possibility. Toss in Alan Tudyk, and you’ve got yourself one heck of a screwball comedy. On paper, this entire enterprise sounds like it shouldn’t work. But, if you just sit back and enjoy yourself, there’s a lot to like about Playdate. Ritchson really gets to stretch his legs here, and we’re just wondering how we can get him into more fun projects like this.
A Very Jonas Christmas Movie – Streaming on Disney+
We’re slipping into the water, and I’m trying to keep from going under. Maybe this holiday entry will keep your weekend hotter. But, don’t burn up with the latest Jonas Brothers movie on Disney+. Yes, the boys are back with some very festive shenanigans. This is the exact vibe for a nostalgic night inside with some Disney Channel lifers.

Ted Danson is a man on a mission. When his character, Charles, goes undercover on a college’s campus, he’s on the trail of a suspect in a strange little mystery. As chaos ensues, things get a little more personal than our man was expecting. Netflix has been on a tear with these whodunits as of late. Go ahead and slot this one in too!
