I know, I know. Remakes are sacrilege these days. However, there was at least one remake that was exceptional, and it came from Tom Savini. He remade Night of the Living Dead in 1990 and brought us an updated and colorful version of the 1968 cult classic.

Now, to celebrate its 35th anniversary, Sony Pictures Home Enertainment is putting out a new 4K disc of the film complete with the uncensored cut. It releases wherever you get your movies on September 23rd, 2025.

SYNOPSIS

It’s a new night for terror – and a new dawn in horror movie-making when special-effects genius Tom Savini (creator of the spectacularly gruesome make-up in FRIDAY THE 13TH and CREEPSHOW) brings his twisted take to this colorful remake of George A. Romero’s 1968 cult classic. Seven strangers are trapped in an isolated farmhouse while cannibalistic zombies wage a relentless attack, killing (and eating) everyone in their path. The classic for the ‘90s: graphic, gruesome and more terrifying than ever!

The movie was directed by Tom Savini and written by George A. Romero. It stars Tony Todd, Patricia Tallman, Tom Towles, McKee Anderson, William Butler, Katie Finneran, Bill Moseley, and Heather Mazur.
