Amazon MGM has found their “Rocky” for their feature film, “I Play Rocky” in Anthony Ippolito. he recently played Al Pacino in the Paramount limited series, “The Offer”. A film that told the story of the making of “The Godfather”. This film will tell the story of the making of the boxing classic “Rocky”.
“I Play Rocky” is being directed by “The Green Book” director, Peter Farrelly. According to The Hollywood Reporter, Ippolito will star as a young Sylvester Stallone, in the drama, true story who didn’t just write Rocky, but also starred in the film. Despite a series of setbacks, Stallone bets on himself to play the lead actor. The result, is an inspiring underdog story about the person who made the ultimate underdog movie.
According to the report Ippolito is said to have pursued the coveted role of Stallone, since first hearing about the project. He put together unsolicited audition tapes and sent them to the producers. This drive led to him landing the role in “I Play Rocky”.
“Rocky” is one of the most iconic and successful sports film franchises of all time. Even creating a new series of spin-offs focused on “Creed”. Those films together have all grossed over $1.7 billion globally. The original “Rocky” film was released in 1976, and went on to win the Oscar for “Best Picture”. Along with having one of the most iconic soundtracks of all-time.
