Cosmo Jarvis won’t be sailing with the gods after all. The Shōgun and Warfare star has exited Christopher Nolan’s upcoming epic The Odyssey.
Jarvis was originally lined up to join an all-star cast that includes Matt Damon, Tom Holland, Zendaya, Charlize Theron, Robert Pattinson, and Anne Hathaway. But due to scheduling conflicts, Jarvis stepped away from the project shortly before filming began.
Logan Marshall-Green Steps Into The Odyssey
Jarvis’ role has since been filled by Logan Marshall-Green, known for Prometheus and The Defeated. The exact nature of the character remains under wraps; consistent with Nolan’s usual secrecy around his films.

Jarvis will instead lead the upcoming biopic Young Stalin, which explores the early years of the controversial Soviet figure.
Plot, Cast, and Release Date
The Odyssey is based on Homer’s epic poem and follows Odysseus (played by Matt Damon), the King of Ithaca, on his perilous journey home after the Trojan War. Along the way, he faces mythic threats like the Cyclops Polyphemus, the Sirens, the nymph Calypso, and the witch-goddess Circe.
Tom Holland plays Telemachus, Odysseus’ son, who remains in Ithaca with his mother Penelope, fending off suitors and maintaining hope that his father will return. The story also features gods like Athena, Poseidon, and Zeus.
The film is currently in production and will shoot across Morocco, Italy, Ireland, and Scotland. It’s slated for an IMAX release on July 17, 2026.
A teaser trailer has begun screening in theatres, though a version has already leaked online via TikTok and X. Universal previously shared a first-look image earlier this year.
