It was earthshaking news when Amazon MGM Studios announced that Denis Villeneuve was directing the next James Bond film. Now, the studio has found a writer to complement his vision. Amazon MGM Studios announced earlier today that Steven Knight was writing the film.
Amy Pascal and David Heyman are producing with Pascal Pictures and Heyday Films. Tanya Lapointe will executive produce the film.
Amazon MGM Studios has been looking high and low for creatives to jumpstart their first James Bond film since they acquired the rights from the Broccoli family. The next part of that search is now for who will play James Bond in the lead role. The latest meetings have been about the script, which they want to hammer out before they can get anyone cast. Villeneueve is fully on board with Knight as the screenwriter.
Who Is Steven Knight?

Knight is the creator, executive producer, and writer for Peaky Blinders which stars Cillian Murphy. He’s also worked on shows like Taboo, See, SAS Rogue Heroes, A Thousand Blows, This Town, The Veil, and All The Light We Cannot See. He’s been a busy man and even co-created the game show Who Wants To Be A Millionaire?. He’s got the Peaky Blinders movie coming up and House of Guinness for Netflix.
Amazon acquired MGM Studios in 2022, setting up a new studio with its vast catalog of more than 4,000 films and 17,000 TV shows.
