The Housemaid is based on the book by the same name written by Freida McFadden. The story follows Millie, a young woman who accepts a job as a live-in housemaid for the wealthy Winchester family. However, it soon becomes clear that the picture-perfect home is full of dark secrets.

Rebecca Sonnenshine adapted the screenplay. Paul Feig (A Simple Favor) directs. In addition to Seyfried and Sweeney, the film also stars Brandon Sklenar, Michele Morrone, and Elizabeth Perkins.
