Get ready for more Kpop and Demon Hunting with KPop Demon Hunters 2. The film was confirmed by Netflix and Sony today for a release in 2029. Maggie Kang and Chris Appelhans will return to direct and write the film, which is aiming for a release in 2029. Although a recent interview with the animation heads behind the film, that 2029 release date might be in jeopardy. The follow-up is the start of a new multi-year exclusive writing and directing deal for Kang and Appelhans with Netflix.

“I feel immense pride as a Korean filmmaker that the audience wants more from this Korean story and our Korean characters,” Kang said. “There’s so much more to this world we have built and I’m excited to show you. This is only the beginning.”

“KPop Demon Hunters” was a fantasy adventure about a fictional K-pop girl group who protect the world from demons with their music. Although plot details for the second film haven’t been confirmed, Appelhans teased the filmmaking duo is “excited to write their next chapter, challenge them and watch them evolve.”

“These characters are like family to us,” he said. “Their world has become our second home.”
