Summer of Cinema

Pluto TV is celebrating the Summer of Cinema and bringing a 25-foot Popcorn Box to Los Angeles, California. That Hashtag Show went to see what the streamer had planned for the Summer of Cinema this week, and the results were pretty wild. Fans who turned up at the Westfield Century City Atrium were greeted by that massive movie snack and a whole popcorn lounge. The event is running today from 12pm PT to 8pm PT! So, feel free to come on out and enjoy the free fun.

The popcorn box actually housed the Pluto TV Popcon Challenge. Two movie fans could race to see who could catch more “popcorn kernels” in their container in 20 seconds. The person with the most in their box wins a prize. And, for some lucky attendees, they would catch the golden kernel. Attendees got to take home special rewards like a Pluto TV projector or a wireless speaker. (The beach towel set and bag are pretty cool too. Or, you could grab a whole range of movie snacks for your movie binge later this weekend!)

Inside of the Atrium, the popcorn lounge has free popcorn for anyone who takes part in the challenge. There were also photo ops with giant pieces of popcorn to pose with. And, places to kick back and relax while you plan what you’re going to watch from Pluto TV’s 1000s of free movies and TV shows.

On Friday, the people in attendance got a surprise as Good Burger’s Kel Mitchell actually swung through to take the Popcorn Challenge. The star won some prizes for folks in the popcorn lounge and handed out snacks too. He was excited that more young fans were getting to see his work with Kenan Thompson. (90s babies know about the Kenan & Kel days very well!) So, the entire Pluto TV Summer of Cinema is off to a great start.
