In case you didn’t know, we’re getting a new Shane Black movie on October 1st, and it’s a doozy. Play Dirty brings the creative duo behind Iron Man 3 and Kiss Kiss Bang Bang back together. They got up to the celebrations early last night with an advance screening of Play Dirty at Alamo Drafthouse locations across the country. Guests in attendance (yours truly included) were treated to a Q&A between the two titans of Hollywood. They got up to talking about the film and what drew Black to this Parker adaptation for Prime Video.
The conversation was lively, and we covered a bit of it on our X/Twitter account last night. Downey Jr. even dispelled some false trivia about him having a cameo in The Nice Guys as a dead body. But he did let it slip that he does have a cameo in Play Dirty, he just didn’t name specifics.
If you don’t know about Play Dirty, here’s the synopsis.
An expert thief rolls out the biggest heist of his life in Play Dirty, an action-packed thriller from director Shane Black. Parker (Mark Wahlberg), along with Grofield (LaKeith Stanfield), Zen (Rosa Salazar) and a skilled crew, stumble onto a score that pits them against the New York mob in this gritty, clever caper.

Our Reaction To Play Dirty

While we can’t quite review the film, just yet, here’s what I thought of it as a quick reaction.
Play Dirty stars Mark Wahlberg, LaKeith Stanfield, Rosa Salazar, Keegan-Michael Key, Chukwudi Iwuji, Nat Wolff with Thomas Jane and Tony Shalhoub. It was written by Shane Black, Charles Mondry, and Anthony Bagarozzi. It releases on Prime Video on October 1st!
