This weekend’s box office was once again ruled by superheroes, with Superman maintaining its first-place spot. Jurassic World: Rebirth held strong in second, while I Know What You Did Last Summer, Smurfs, and F1: The Movie rounded out the top five.

Superman Maintains Its Victory

Superman

Superman flew past the competition with a $17.47 million debut, landing solidly in first place. While the box office numbers aren’t record-breaking, the film’s strong brand power, combined with a hopeful rebooted tone, has clearly struck a chord with audiences. It’s a promising start for DC’s new era.

Jurassic World: Rebirth Holds Its Ground

Jurassic World: Rebirth continued its dinosaur-sized box office run with another $7.3 million, holding on to second place. While momentum is slowing, the film remains a consistent draw for families and franchise fans alike.

I Know What You Did Last Summer

The horror revival I Know What You Did Last Summer slashed its way to $3.09 million over the weekend, securing third place. With minimal marketing but solid name recognition, the film is off to a fair start and could gain momentum at the box office if word-of-mouth among horror fans grows.

Smurfs Blue Their Way to Fourth

Smurfs took fourth place with $3.05 million. While the numbers are modest, the film continues to provide a lighthearted family option at the box office during a packed summer lineup. Its nostalgic appeal and vibrant animation may help it linger in the top 10 in the coming weeks.

F1: The Movie Cruises into Fifth

F1: The Movie rounded out the top five with $2.9 million. Despite stiff competition, the motorsports drama continues to perform steadily, appealing to racing fans and audiences looking for adrenaline-fueled storytelling.

Next Week’s Predictions

Looking ahead, Fantastic Four is set to debut to a $125 million to $145 million debut. Given the precarious quality of slme MCU films and the precarious nature of Fantastic Four on film. I see a $132 opening being realistic. If reviews and word of buzz are positive than this could increase and maintain a lead over time.

As always, we’ll find out next week!
